You have to be careful of fumes entering the car, because at times some of them can make you ill, at the very least they can give you a headache. Because I had previously experienced a burst fuel line on a car I am always conscious of smells in cars. I took my car to the mechanic and asked him if it had a fuel leak. He took it for a drive and said he also could smell the petrol and he would check it out. Five hours later I picked up the car and he had not found the leak, car is absolutely ok but the smell is still there, he didn’t know where it was coming from, so I would just have to take it easy and keep an eye on everything. During the first lesson the smell was getting to me, so I asked the learner to pull over and I would just double check something. (Another Thomas had borrowed the car story here). I opened the fuel latch and took the fuel cap off; it came off real easy, a bit too easy. It had not been locked on properly and the fumes were entering through the vents. You should have seen the mechanics face when I told him what it had been. Luckily my mechanic didn’t charge me for the 5 hours he spent looking at the car. Most mechanics will look for technical and mechanical faults, not human faults. Benefits of mirrors A few years ago, a policeman was on his way to work in the early hours of the morning, he looked in his mirror and saw a car fail to take a bend, the car went straight into a river. After turning around, the police officer was able to get to the scene quickly and saved the male driver from drowning. The police officer was commended for an award. The middle mirror with time and practice should become a third eye. Constant knowledge of where all relevant traffic is at any given time is important for correct decisions to be made. Hint Yours eyes send 24 pictures a second to the brain, only a quick glance is necessary to determine there is a vehicle in the mirror. Once a driver gets used to doing quick checks in the mirror it is found that they will check about every 3 or 4 seconds and will always have a sound knowledge of approaching traffic.
If you know how they work then please tell me.
